The VANITY Interview
VANITY: Turning Pain into Purpose Through Music
VANITY, who is from Summerville, South Carolina, has a unique journey unlike most rappers. He was first exposed to music under difficult circumstances, as he was initially ab*sed into making music. Over time though, he found that music was the only thing he could depend on, a talent that gave him direction and comfort.
VANITY's sound is a synthesis of inspirations that reflect his individual journey, drawing inspiration from a wide range of artists, including Kanye West, My Chemical Romance, Juice WRLD, Ski Mask the Slump God, Twenty One Pilots, and LSD. Even though he didn't start listening to rap until high school, he has since embraced the genre and combined its intensity with the richness of the rock and alternative music he was exposed to as a child.
VANITY wants more than just to be famous. By demonstrating that even those who have experienced homelessness or poverty can overcome their obstacles, he hopes to encourage others. He wants to give anthems for people going through difficult times and spread happiness via his music.
With five new songs set to drop in 2025, VANITY believes he’s reaching his peak as an artist. Though his journey has been tough, moments of humor—like his interactions with TheHxliday and trolling Dro Kenji—add a lighthearted touch to his story. VANITY’s music and message stand as a beacon of hope, proving that resilience and creativity can transform pain into purpose. Be sure to follow him along on his journey!
